Review Cycle

TMJ Authority is committed to keeping its content accurate and up to date. Each article is assigned a review cycle based on the stability of the topic. Core educational content — such as anatomy, symptoms, and treatment fundamentals — is reviewed at least annually. Content covering emerging research areas — such as the relationship between sleep bruxism and sleep-disordered breathing — is reviewed more frequently, as new studies may refine our understanding.

What Triggers an Update

Content may be updated outside the regular review cycle when:

  • New systematic reviews or meta-analyses significantly change the evidence landscape for a topic.
  • Professional organizations release updated clinical guidelines relevant to TMJ disorders.
  • Reader feedback identifies an error, ambiguity, or gap in coverage.
  • Advances in understanding prompt refinement of previously published explanations.

Transparency

Each page displays a "Last reviewed" date indicating when the content was most recently evaluated for accuracy and completeness, and a "Last updated" date indicating when material changes were last made. These dates help readers assess the currency of the information.

Archival

When content is significantly revised, the previous version is not retained publicly. However, the update date reflects the most recent material change. If you need information about a previous version of any page, please contact us.

Reader Feedback

We value input from readers and clinicians. If you believe any content is outdated, unclear, or could be improved, please reach out through our contact page. All feedback is reviewed and may prompt a content update.
